What you would be doing
You carry out proactive operations, covert or overt, to locate and bring back AWOL soldiers and people wanted by the Military Police, alongside surveillance, gathering evidence and intelligence, and planning and running tailing operations against various targets and criminal elements — all aimed at getting traffickers and violators of military law convicted. Within detective work there's also the Magen Tzur rapid-response team, whose main job is preventing disturbances outside IDF bases; it's the only military body authorized to deal directly with civilians. The role is unusual because it constantly involves sensitive populations and volatile situations in civilian areas, and because it's covert, you work in civilian clothes or a dark uniform.
What it takes to get in

Training
About six weeks of basic training at Bahad 13, then a roughly five-week detective course. Afterward, soldiers report as detectives to Military Police bases around the country; those posted to Magen Tzur report to Beit Lid camp, where that unit is based.
