What you study

As part of the program, we combine the study of archaeology with the study of the Near and Ancient East in a rich and varied curriculum that combines academic study with a unique field experience.

Archaeology studies ancient cultures that existed in Israel and around the world by finding, documenting, and analyzing material and environmental evidence. The degree provides broad and varied knowledge of the archaeology of the Land of Israel and the Mediterranean basin throughout history, from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages: prehistoric archaeology, archaeology of the biblical period, and archaeology of the Classical and Byzantine worlds. The curriculum combines theoretical studies with practical work in the field or in laboratories. Courses in the degree include history, anthropology, philosophy, linguistics, the study of religions, geography, and more.
