Admission requirements

Intake for the 2026/27 academic year

You can be admitted through one of these tracks:

Regular track

suitability score

  • The exact sciences/engineering suitability score meets the admission thresholdacademic year: 2026/27Acceptance threshold: 718Rejection threshold: 717

Special track

Exceptional admission

  • Applications for consideration for exceptional admission will be accepted from those who do not meet one of the basic admission requirements, including the requirement of “previous education that prevents admission,” and only if they meet the alternative condition for that requirement. Please note that every application for exceptional admission is forwarded to the unit’s admissions committee, which will decide whether to approve or reject the application, taking into account all the relevant information and the number of places still available in the requested department.
  • Applications for consideration for exceptional admission will be accepted from those who do not meet one of the basic admission requirements, and only if they meet the alternative condition for that requirement (except for the mathematics requirement)
For adults and those who have studied before2

A bachelor's degree in another field

  • A bachelor's degree in another field from a recognized academic institution recognized by the CHE, with an average of 85 or higher, and a suitability score up to 10 points below the admission cutoff

Transfer track from The Open University of Israel

  • Admission based on a transfer track from The Open University of Israel; see details under the “Advanced Year” tab.

These are minimum requirements: meeting them does not by itself guarantee admission.

For every track

  • The program was selected as the first preference
  • A grade of 80 or higher in 5-unit mathematics in the bagrut or a grade of 90 or higher in 4-unit mathematics in the bagrut (all applicants admitted on the basis of 4 units are required to take a mathematics placement test)
  • 5-unit physics with a grade of 75 or higher, or 5-unit chemistry or an additional technological subject with a grade of 75 or higher and a physics placement test, or 5-unit biology with a grade of 83 or higher and a physics placement test, or a grade of 75 or higher in the course Classical Physics 1 (course 0324-1118) at Tel Aviv University, or in a Mechanics or Electricity and Magnetism course at The Open University of Israel, or a grade of 140 or higher in the quantitative reasoning section of the psychometric exam, and: a grade of 90 or higher in 5-unit mathematics with a physics placement test
  • Overall psychometric score of 660 or higher or a bachelor's degree from a recognized academic institution recognized by the CHE in exact sciences or engineering, with a grade of 85 or higher. The program must include foundational mathematics courses equivalent in level and scope to the courses taught at the School of Computer Science
  • The applicant has not previously studied at a recognized academic institution recognized by the CHE, or the applicant's previous academic studies toward a bachelor's degree ended with a cumulative average of 75 or higher and were not discontinued for academic reasons (such as failing courses).
  • All applicants admitted to the Faculty of Engineering must have prior knowledge of physics. Anyone who did not pass a physics bagrut exam at 5 units or more with a grade of at least 75 is defined as “lacking physics.” Applicants lacking physics will be admitted conditionally, as detailed under the “Lacking Physics” tab.
  • Applicants who graduated from high schools abroad and whose diploma is not equivalent to an Israeli bagrut certificate: These applicants must complete a year at a recognized mechina in the science track (5 units in mathematics and 5 units in physics). See applicants who graduated from the mechina for new immigrants below.
  • The university’s general admission requirementsAn Israeli bagrut certificate or a high-school completion certificate from abroad

What you study

Electrical engineering and computer science are 2 of the most sought-after fields in today’s economy, but combining them gives you an advantage over any other applicant in software, hardware, robotics, medicine, and every other field where computers play a dominant role.

Computer engineering is at the forefront of science and technology, and computer systems play a part in almost every aspect of modern life. A bachelor's degree in computer engineering combines theoretical and practical knowledge from a very broad range of fields, such as mathematics, physics, computer science, electrical engineering, and electronics. The richness of this field, which combines creativity, computation, and extracting information from the world around us, allows each engineer to choose the topics that interest them.
