The department’s curriculum covers the history of the lands of Islam up to the present day and offers courses on, among other things, social developments in these lands; the religion of Islam, its sects and institutions; the political movements that arose from this religion; and the cultural, intellectual, and material traditions that developed in the Arabic-, Persian-, and Turkish-speaking Muslim world.
