What you study

The bachelor's degree program in Landscape Architecture is the only program of its kind in Israel. It combines the study of landscape architecture with a foundation in architecture, planning and culture taught at Bezalel's School of Architecture, together with in-depth study of plant sciences, ecology and the environment at the Hebrew University's Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment.

Landscape architecture deals with planning open spaces, public or private, based on the view that people are part of the environment in which they live and act. According to this view, developing an advanced society requires proper management of the environment and its resources, while maintaining a balance between development, conservation, and rehabilitation. The studies introduce students to the distinctive features, diversity, and history of the landscapes of Israel, and offer a comprehensive, theoretical and practical approach to environmental planning. Topics covered in the degree include planning and design, the theory and history of landscape architecture, engineering of space and garden construction, plant knowledge and planning with plants, landscape ecology, planning and management of landscape, natural, and environmental resources, and more.
