What you study
The Department of Linguistics is a branch of cognitive science that studies human language, with the aim of understanding the mechanisms shared by all languages and the linguistic basis that underlies them. Linguistic research has close ties with neuroscience, computer science and cognitive psychology.
Linguistics explores human natural language and the human ability to use it. Although the field traditionally belongs to the humanities, the program also includes knowledge from other fields, such as the social sciences and the exact sciences. The curriculum includes a theoretical background, tools for research and academic thinking, and practical knowledge that prepares students to work in fields such as teaching Hebrew language, languages, translation, artificial intelligence, and more.
