What you study

The curriculum at the School of Social Work prepares students for the profession. Social workers are professionally committed to advancing social justice and helping people cope with situations of risk on a personal and social level, in order to improve their living conditions and well-being.

Social work studies provide theoretical, research-based, and practical knowledge in therapeutic and preventive work in a range of settings: communities, groups, families, and individuals (adults and children), together with professional experience. At most institutions, students choose during their studies between an individual and family track and a community track. Topics covered in the degree include introductory studies and research studies in the social sciences and humanities, behavioral sciences, welfare studies, social care, social policy and legislation, research methods, statistics, and more. Students also take part in practical experience with a range of populations: older adults, prisoners, families, at-risk youth, and more.
