What you study

New! Starting in the 2026/27 academic year, the multidisciplinary program will also offer a single-major track, allowing students to choose 1 study cluster at an expanded scope (major) from the program’s unique selection of clusters, plus 4 clusters at the regular scope (minor) from the program’s other clusters.

The degree provides a broad education across the humanities (the human sciences), while developing critical thinking, abstract thinking, and the ability to analyze and synthesize extensive theoretical material from multiple domains and make comparisons. Institutions offer options to pursue different tracks and areas of focus, including: an Asian Studies track, which introduces students to the culture, literature, history, politics, economy, law, and more of leading Asian countries; and a World Culture track, covering literature and art, philosophy and ideas, history, languages, and more.
