What you would be doing
The Transport Center is the only place in the army that trains drivers for vehicles over 12 tons. You transport weapons, uniforms, vehicles and food to bases across the country. You get a compensation day off once a week, extra pay, and free travel even out of uniform.
What it takes to get in
Profile 45 and above. Yom Ha-MEA marks (women only): attention 2 and above, dedication and perseverance 2 and above.
Training
Basic training 02, then a 13-week driving course for vehicles over 12 tons plus 50 hours of mentored driving with a veteran driver. You finish with a C1 license (over 12 tons) and an E license (trailer), which also covers categories B and C.
Where you serve
One of the Transport Center's three battalions — Tira (near Tirat Carmel), Ben Ami (near Shoham) or Mishmar HaNegev — moving between bases nationwide.
What it is worth afterwards
A heavy-truck license — a ready-made career as a long-haul driver.
