What you would be doing
You play at official military ceremonies and state events — marching songs, fanfares, anthems — plus a wide range of music with an emphasis on Israeli repertoire, for audiences in and outside the army, in Israel and abroad. The orchestra includes brass, percussion, keyboards, guitar, bass and singers, and you're expected to learn pieces on short notice and perform them professionally.
What it takes to get in
Profile 25 and above, a high musical level and previous experience playing in orchestras or ensembles.
Training
Basic training 02, then training on the job.
Where you serve
The IDF Orchestra's base at Camp Aviv in northern Tel Aviv, with performances across the country.
What it is worth afterwards
Many graduates go on to play in leading orchestras and ensembles in Israel and abroad, or work in music management, teaching or conducting.
