What you would be doing
You guide vessels into port and carry out complex maneuvers and operational tasks on the open sea. As part of a small combat-support crew, you operate the "tugboat" — small but powerful, and critical to many of the navy's missions: bringing ships into port, maneuvering large vessels, and responding to emergencies like mechanical failures, complex incidents or rough seas. The work calls for strong technical skill, seamanship, working under pressure and a fast response.
What it takes to get in
Profile 72 and above with no disqualifying clauses, Dapar 30 and above, a security clearance, a high ranking on the preferences questionnaire, and passing the naval-combat-spearhead gibush.
Training
Men: pass the naval-combat-spearhead gibush, enlist in the navy, and receive this role during tironut. Women: pass an online naval-combat selection with a tugboat-suitable result, then the naval-combat-spearhead gibush with a tugboat result, then enlist in the navy.
