What you would be doing
You go through one of the IDF's most prestigious, longest and toughest courses — two and a half years of academic study and intensive combat training that ends with you becoming an officer on the navy's ships. You learn to command a crew, operate complex systems in real time, and function under extreme pressure, both at sea and on land.
What it takes to get in
Profile 82 with no disqualifying clauses, Dapar 60, Hebrew score 8. You must pass a scouting day, an online selection, a 5-day physical selection in Atlit, a security clearance and a medical exam at the Institute of Naval Medicine, and sign a 5-year keva commitment.
Training
The course runs two and a half years: academic study, intensive combat training, and professional training on combat systems, navigation and ship command. Three tracks: seamanship, electronics, mechanics.

What it is worth afterwards
A bachelor's degree from the University of Haifa, a license to skipper a vessel up to 30 meters, and command experience — all valued in civilian life.
