What you would be doing
You teach paratroopers how to jump — everything from dropping troops and freefalling to airlifting forces and dropping equipment on a range of missions. The work happens in field conditions and calls for fast decisions under extreme pressure, plus zero fear of heights. Training runs through the Paratroopers' base and finishes with the march for the red beret.
What it takes to get in
Profile 82 and above, Instruction 4+, a planning-index score of 5+. You'll also need public-speaking ability, stress tolerance, command and instructional skills, no fear of heights, teamwork, and independence. The role requires a selection process.
Training
Tironut 05 at the Paratroopers training base, followed by a course leading to Rifleman 06 qualification (the parachute-instructor course), with the red-beret march partway through.
