What you would be doing
You teach — in uniform, but inside ordinary civilian schools and community programs — helping specific groups settle in: new immigrants, boarding-school students, religious communities. You pick a track: math, immigrant absorption, religious culture, community work, or boarding schools. A year of this service officially counts as a year of teaching seniority.
What it takes to get in
Profile 25 and above, Dapar 40 and above. Yom Ha-MEA (women only): Instruction 3+, Interpersonal skills 2+, Management and organization 2+, Teamwork 3+. Selection chances for qualified candidates: high.
Training
Tironut 02 plus 6 weeks of training at Ramot Shapira, Jerusalem.
Where you serve
Various towns around the country, inside civilian frameworks; you live in soldier-teacher apartments.
What it is worth afterwards
This service counts as a year of teaching seniority.
