Admission requirements

You can be admitted through one of these tracks:

Regular track

Admission based on the psychometric exam

  • Psychometric score of at least 600, including 4 units in mathematics with a grade of at least passing

By bagrut, no psychometric exam

Admission based on bagrut certificate grades

  • Bagrut certificate with an average of at least 85, including 4 or 5 units in mathematics in the bagrut
For adults and those who have studied before1

Admission based on a practical engineer diploma

  • Practical engineer with a diploma average of 80 or higher, earned in external exams

These are minimum requirements: meeting them does not by itself guarantee admission.

For every track

  • Introductory courses: Students admitted to engineering studies at Shenkar must attend summer courses in mathematics and physics and earn a passing grade. Students in Chemical Engineering must also attend a summer course in chemistry and earn a passing grade. Students who studied 5 units of mathematics and physics and earned a grade of 75 or higher are exempt from these courses. Students who studied chemistry at the level of 5 units or higher and passed are exempt from the introductory chemistry course.

What you study

Chemical engineering deals with the industrial production and extraction of chemicals and uses the principles of chemistry, physics, mathematics, and economics for the use, production, and conversion of chemicals, materials, and energy. Chemical engineering also deals with the transition from developing processes on a small scale in the laboratory, through setting up pilot plants for initial production, to operating huge industrial plants. Topics studied in the degree include core subjects in mathematics, chemistry, and physics, as well as chemical engineering subjects, including thermodynamics, chemical reactor design, process control, process optimization, organic chemistry and polymers, inorganic chemistry, corrosion and protection methods, analytical mechanics, and more.
