What you study

Chemistry is an extraordinarily fascinating field of scientific research. In fact, chemistry is the foundation of our world and plays a central role in everyone’s life, because it touches almost every aspect of our existence in some way: food, clothing, construction, medicine, the environment, and even basic human emotions.

Chemistry deals with the composition, properties and behavior of substances in different states of matter and under a range of environmental conditions. Research and applications in the field affect many areas, including health, food, clothing, construction, pharmaceuticals, environmental quality, energy and more. The studies provide theoretical knowledge along with hands-on research experience. The curriculum includes foundational courses, followed by advanced courses in fields such as organic, inorganic, analytical, physical and theoretical chemistry; nanomaterials and nanotechnology; green energy; molecular biochemistry; molecular electronics; drug development and more.
