  • Psychometric score of 725 or higher and eligibility for a bagrut certificate that meets the university's requirements

By bagrut, no psychometric exam

Admission tracks based on bagrut without a psychometric exam

  • Mathematics at 5 units with a grade of 90 or higher and chemistry at 5 units or physics at 5 units with a grade of 90 or higher in each, or mathematics at 5 units with a grade of 90 or higher and bagrut at 5 units with a grade of 87 or higher in 2 of the following 3 subjects: physics, chemistry, biology.

Another track

High-school students who studied in the Science-Oriented Youth Unit

  • High school students who studied at the Youth for Science Unit and met the requirements for transferring to Chemistry may be admitted with special status as long as they are high school students. Once they are eligible for a bagrut certificate, and only after meeting the transfer requirements, they will be transferred to regular student status.

Special track

Exceptional admission tracks

  • Suitability score for exact sciences of 575 or higher and the applicant’s overall data ** Admission based on academic education (without a psychometric exam) A bachelor's degree from a recognized academic institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education, with a final grade of 75 or higher, or academic education at a recognized academic institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education, comprising at least 30 semester hours in natural sciences, exact sciences, or engineering, with an average of at least 75 Admission based on a psychometric exam Psychometric score of 700 or higher and eligibility for a bagrut certificate that meets the university’s requirements and bagrut mathematics at 4 units with a passing grade (55) or higher, as well as a grade of at least 80 in the chemistry preparatory course (for applicants without bagrut chemistry). Admission based on bagrut grades (without a psychometric exam) Mathematics at 5 units with a grade of 85 or higher and chemistry at 5 units with a grade of 90 or higher, or physics at 5 units with a grade of 85 or higher. Or mathematics at 5 units with a grade of 85 or higher and bagrut at 5 units with a grade of 85 or higher in 2 of the following 3 subjects: physics, chemistry, biology, or active participation or serving as a substitute in the International Chemistry Olympiad or the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) and eligibility for a bagrut certificate
For adults and those who have studied before2

Completed academic education

  • A bachelor's degree from an academic institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education, with a final grade of 80 or higher (no psychometric exam), or academic studies at an academic institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education, totaling at least 30 semester hours in natural sciences, exact sciences, or engineering, with an average of at least 80 (no psychometric exam)

Transfer route from The Open University of Israel

  • The transfer track from The Open University of Israel allows students to begin their chemistry studies at The Open University of Israel and be admitted to the second year of chemistry studies at Tel Aviv University.
  • Applicants must be at Advanced B level in English.
  • This track is available only in the single major program.

These are minimum requirements: meeting them does not by itself guarantee admission.

For every track

  • A grade of 75 or higher in mathematics at 5 units in the bagrut or in a recognized pre-academic university mechina, or a grade of 80 or higher in mathematics at 4 units in the bagrut or in a recognized pre-academic university mechina, or a passing grade or higher in bagrut mathematics at 4 units or more and a grade of 70 or higher on the placement test for the mathematics preparatory course held in the Faculty of Exact Sciences, or a passing grade or higher in bagrut mathematics at 4 units and a grade of 75 or higher in the preparatory mathematics course for chemists
  • Physics/chemistry knowledge A grade of 75 or higher in physics or chemistry at 5 units or more in the bagrut or in a recognized pre-academic university mechina, or a grade of 75 or higher on the placement test for the physics preparatory course held in the Faculty of Engineering during the summer months, or a grade of 80 or higher on the placement test for the chemistry preparatory course held in the Faculty of Exact Sciences during the summer months
  • For a single major in chemistry: psychometric score of 575 or higher and a score of 110 or higher in the quantitative reasoning section; for a double major in chemistry in all tracks: psychometric score of 565 or higher and a score of 110 or higher in the quantitative reasoning section, or a bachelor's degree from a recognized academic institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education, with a final grade of 80 or higher, or academic education at a recognized academic institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education, comprising at least 30 semester hours in natural sciences, exact sciences, or engineering, with an average grade of at least 80 in all courses taken, even if the number of hours exceeds 30
  • Applicants seeking admission based on a recognized pre-academic mechina are required to complete a mechina in the science track or a natural-sciences mechina that includes chemistry, except in the Chemistry–Physics track, where only a science mechina is required.
  • Double major in Chemistry and PhysicsApplicants must meet the admission requirements for each program separately.

What you study

Have you ever wondered how dinosaurs turned into oil? How oil turns into plastic, and how plastic becomes a bag at the supermarket or a chair on the balcony?

Chemistry deals with the composition, properties and behavior of substances in different states of matter and under a range of environmental conditions. Research and applications in the field affect many areas, including health, food, clothing, construction, pharmaceuticals, environmental quality, energy and more. The studies provide theoretical knowledge along with hands-on research experience. The curriculum includes foundational courses, followed by advanced courses in fields such as organic, inorganic, analytical, physical and theoretical chemistry; nanomaterials and nanotechnology; green energy; molecular biochemistry; molecular electronics; drug development and more.
