Regular track

Exact Sciences suitability score

  • Exact Sciences suitability score*academic year: 2026/27Acceptance threshold: 620Rejection threshold: 599
  • Exact Sciences suitability score—an applicant who took 5 units in mathematics and physics and received a grade of at least 55 in each will receive an additional 10 bonus points on the regular suitability score.

Regular track

An additional 5 points to the suitability score

  • Exact Sciences suitability scoreMeets the admission threshold
  • An additional 5 points on a suitability score that is below the required threshold for completing the online course First Steps in Computer Science and Python Programming with a grade of at least 80

By bagrut, no psychometric exam

Without a psychometric exam

  • A grade of 90 or higher in bagrut physics and mathematics at 5 units in each subject, or in a recognized academic mechina in the science track
  • All applicants seeking admission through one of the admission tracks that do not require a psychometric score must reach at least Advanced A level in English on the Amir exam by the start of the academic year.

By bagrut, no psychometric exam

Weighted bagrut average of at least 105

  • Weighted bagrut average of at least 105 and meeting the basic requirements in mathematics and physics based on bagrut grades only
  • All applicants seeking admission through one of the admission tracks that do not require a psychometric score must reach at least Advanced A level in English on the Amir exam by the start of the academic year.

By bagrut, no psychometric exam

Weighted bagrut average of at least 110

  • Weighted bagrut average of at least 110 and a bagrut mathematics exam at 4 units or higher with a passing grade and a score of 80 or higher on the mathematics level placement exam and a score of at least 80 on the level placement exam for the physics course held in the Faculty of Engineering
  • All applicants seeking admission through one of the admission tracks that do not require a psychometric score must reach at least Advanced A level in English on the Amir exam by the start of the academic year.

Another track

High-school students who studied in the Science-Oriented Youth Unit

  • High-school students who studied in the Science-Oriented Youth Unit and met the transition requirements for geophysics may be admitted with special status while they are still high-school students. Once they are eligible for a bagrut certificate and have met the transition requirements, they will be transferred to regular student status in the Department of Geophysics

Special track

Exceptional admission

  • Your credentials do not meet the requirements? You may want to check the conditions for consideration for exceptional admission
  • Applicants who meet the conditions for consideration for exceptional admission should contact the Geophysics Department secretariat through the inquiry system to apply for exceptional admission and will be invited to a personal interview.

These are minimum requirements: meeting them does not by itself guarantee admission.

For every track

  • Mathematics knowledge: a score of 75 or higher in mathematics at 5 units in the bagrut or in a recognized university pre-academic mechina in a science track, or a score of 85 or higher in mathematics at 4 units in the bagrut, or a score of 80 or higher on the mathematics level placement exam held in the Faculty of Exact Sciences.
  • Physics knowledge: a score of 75 or higher in physics at 5 units in the bagrut or in a recognized university pre-academic mechina in a science track, or a score of 80 or higher on the placement exam for the physics preparatory course held in the Faculty of Engineering during the summer months

What you study

Earth Science deals with a wide range of topics and questions related to the physical and chemical processes at work in the solid and fluid Earth. Earth scientists seek to understand the forces and mechanisms that cause natural phenomena, from the upper atmosphere to the Earth's core.

Earth sciences—geology, atmospheric sciences, oceanography, hydrology and water resources, and environmental sciences—study the processes that act on and shape Earth, the seas and oceans, and the atmosphere. The studies combine theoretical courses with mapping camps, laboratory work, field trips, and research cruises in the Mediterranean Sea and the Gulf of Eilat. The curriculum includes foundational studies in physics, chemistry, and mathematics. Later, students can choose one of the following specializations: geology, climate and atmospheric sciences, marine sciences and oceanography, or environmental sciences.
