What you study

Statistics focuses on 2 main areas: collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting quantitative data, and developing models for forecasting, drawing conclusions, and making decisions under complex conditions of uncertainty. The Statistics and Data Science degree provides broad theoretical knowledge of statistical and mathematical models, along with applied tools. Students learn to independently develop computer tools for data analysis. Courses include calculus, linear algebra, introduction to programming, statistical inference, statistical models, multivariate analysis, data management and analysis using SAS and SQL, computational methods in statistics, and more.

After the degree

Graduates of related fields work as:

Related fields: Statistics

  • Mathematics, Actuarial Science and Statisticsmost commonResearch and development of concepts, theories, practical methods, and practical models, and their application to a wide range of tasks.
  • Bank or Post Office Clerical WorkProviding direct service to bank or post office customers regarding the receipt, exchange and payment of money, as well as providing postal services.
  • Credit and Loan ConsultingAnalyzing and evaluating financial information related to credit and loan applications, and approving or rejecting them.

In short, in plain words

In statistics, students learn to collect, analyze, and present data, and to develop models for forecasting and decision-making in complex conditions of uncertainty.

In the degree program, students learn to develop their own computer tools for data analysis, and also take courses such as Introduction to Programming and Linear Algebra.
