What you would be doing

You clear and open the way for ground forces in battle — you're often the first to make contact with enemy forces. You work with equipment and combat gear built specifically for combat engineering. Beyond engineering tasks, the battalions also carry out routine infantry work like night raids, arrests and ambushes.

What it takes to get in

Profile 82 and above with no disqualifying conditions. BMI 17–32.

Training

Tironut 05 with weapons and shooting training, fieldcraft and fitness, day and night combat drills, and a beret march; then advanced training completing rifleman level 06, including explosives preparation, mine clearing, obstacle breaching, and driving and fighting in engineering vehicles.

Where you serve

In one of three battalions — Asaf, Lahav or Ha-Machatz — within the corps' combat systems: bulldozers, engineering equipment (Tzemed) and the recon platoon.
