What you would be doing
You shoot photos and video right in the combat zone and help tell the world what's happening — your material can end up in news outlets worldwide. At the same time you're a full combat soldier: you go through combat training and take part in operations alongside everyone else.
What it takes to get in
Passing selection: submitting a portfolio, a personal interview and a psychologist's interview.
Training
Tironut, about 3 months, at Sayarim camp; advanced training, about 3 months, at Gidonim camp; then a spokesperson-professions course at the same camp. Combat training totals 8 months; total service is 2 years and 8 months.
Where you serve
In the documentation unit of the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, across every sector of the country.
