What you would be doing
You develop operational and combat-support information systems — systems the IDF depends on to function, in routine times and in emergencies. You work in a team, learn modern development technologies, and after the basic course choose a specialization: Fullstack (web development, back end, databases) or Cloud (cloud infrastructure and platforms).
What it takes to get in
Must pass the Communications Corps computer-track selection. No prior knowledge required — logical thinking matters more. Open to men and women, with women required to complete the same service length as men. Dapar 70 and above; men with a combat profile need 80 and above plus 10 study units in computer science or a technical degree. Security clearance required before enlistment. A 2.5-year career-service (keva) commitment.
Training
About a 22-week course at Basmach, run as a pre-military course (kdatz).
Where you serve
In technology teams across the different IDF branches: navy, ground forces, Communications Corps, air force and Military Intelligence.
What it is worth afterwards
Programming has been the hottest profession of the last decade in the civilian job market.
