What you would be doing
You serve in one of the IDF's four elite units — Unit 669 specializes in rescue under fire, pulling wounded soldiers off the battlefield and recovering pilots who ejected during strikes deep in enemy territory. Thanks to unique skills at sea, in the air and on land, you cross enemy lines and join other special units on covert missions, sometimes far beyond Israel's borders.
What it takes to get in
Profile 97, Dapar 50 and above, passing a reconnaissance-unit selection day, passing the Shayetet or the joint General Staff gibush, and passing a unit selection day testing your handling of stress in water.
Training
Rifle training 08, a reconnaissance-unit medics' course, parachuting, diving, navigation, counter-terrorism and pistol training. The whole path takes a year and a half.
