Bachelor's degree

  • A bachelor's degree from an academic institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education, with an average of 80 or higher, and a suitability score up to 10 points below the admission cutoff

These are minimum requirements: meeting them does not by itself guarantee admission.

For every track

  • The program was selected as the first preference
  • A psychometric score of 660 or higher, or a bachelor's degree (first degree) from an academic institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education in the exact sciences or engineering, with a grade of 80 or higher. The program must include basic mathematics courses equivalent in level and scope to the courses taught at the School of Computer Science
  • A grade of 80 or higher in mathematics at 5 units, or a grade of 70–79 in mathematics at 5 units and a grade of at least 75 on the mathematics placement test, or a grade of 88 or higher in mathematics at 4 units; or a grade of 75–87 in mathematics at 4 units and a grade of at least 75 on the mathematics placement test
  • As part of the program, students are required to have knowledge of physics. Applicants who did not take a bagrut physics exam at 5 units with at least a passing grade will be required to acquire this knowledge by completing physics courses taught as part of the program. These courses do not count toward the degree's required number of hours, and their cost is borne by the student. Another option for exemption from the physics courses is to earn a score of at least 80 in Physics Preparatory Course 0, offered by the Faculty of Engineering during the summer months.
  • The IDF does not allow academic reserve candidates to apply to this program
  • The university’s general admission requirementsAn Israeli bagrut certificate or a high-school completion certificate from abroad

What you study

Computer Science and Biology are 2 of the most sought-after degrees in the job market, and they can lead to work in almost any technology and science profession, such as high tech, medicine, agriculture, and the pharmaceutical industry.

Bioinformatics deals with analyzing, organizing and understanding large quantities of data obtained from biological experiments. The field began to develop thanks to the availability of biological databases and large amounts of findings from clinical trials, as well as the development of modern analysis methods and computing capabilities. It combines and applies tools from computer science, mathematics, statistics and information theory to process large-scale biological data. These tools include models, algorithms and computer programs designed to handle large databases and highly complex problems.
