What you study
Bioinformatics deals with analyzing, organizing and understanding large quantities of data obtained from biological experiments. The field began to develop thanks to the availability of biological databases and large amounts of findings from clinical trials, as well as the development of modern analysis methods and computing capabilities. It combines and applies tools from computer science, mathematics, statistics and information theory to process large-scale biological data. These tools include models, algorithms and computer programs designed to handle large databases and highly complex problems.
