Admission requirements

Intake for the 2026/27 academic year

You can be admitted through one of these tracks:

Regular track

Engineering suitability score

  • The engineering suitability score* meets the admission thresholdacademic year: 2026/27Acceptance threshold: 667Rejection threshold: 647

Regular track

A score of 140 or higher in the quantitative reasoning section

  • A score of 140 or higher in the quantitative reasoning section of the psychometric exam, and an engineering suitability score no more than 5 points below the admission threshold, and an average grade of 85 or higher in mathematics and physics, each at 5 units

Regular track

A suitability score at least 20 points above the admission threshold

  • A suitability score at least 20 points above the admission threshold and a grade of 90 or higher in mathematics at 5 units

Special track

Exceptional admission tracks

  • Applications for consideration for exceptional admission will be accepted from those who do not meet one of the basic admission requirements, including the requirement of “previous education that prevents admission,” and only if they meet the alternative condition for that requirement. Please note that every application for exceptional admission is forwarded to the unit’s admissions committee, which will decide whether to approve or reject the application, taking into account all the relevant information and the number of places still available in the requested department.
For adults and those who have studied before2

Bachelor's degree

  • A bachelor's degree from an academic institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education, with an average of 85 or higher, and also a grade of 70 or higher in 5-unit Physics in the bagrut, or in the Physics level placement exam, or in Classical Physics 1 at Tel Aviv University, or in Mechanics or Electricity and Magnetism at The Open University of Israel; or a grade of 80 or higher in each of the following courses and an average of 85 or higher in them: Calculus 1A or Calculus 1B or Linear Algebra at Tel Aviv University, or Advanced Calculus 1 or Advanced Calculus 2 or Linear Algebra 1 at The Open University of Israel; and also Classical Physics 1 at Tel Aviv University, or Mechanics or Electricity and Magnetism at The Open University of Israel

Transfer track from The Open University of Israel

  • Admission based on a transfer track from The Open University of Israel; see details under the “Advanced Year” tab.

These are minimum requirements: meeting them does not by itself guarantee admission.

For every track

  • A grade of 75 or higher in bagrut mathematics at 5 units, or *a grade of 85 or higher in bagrut mathematics at 4 units (all applicants admitted on the basis of 4 units are required to take a mathematics placement test), or a grade of 75 or higher in 2 of the following Tel Aviv University courses: Calculus 1A, Calculus 1B, Calculus 2A, Calculus 2B, Algebra, or in 2 of the following courses at The Open University of Israel: Infi 1, Infi 2, Calculus B, Linear Algebra 1, Linear Algebra 2. (These courses grant an exemption from the mathematics placement test.)
  • Physics at 5 units with a grade of 70 or higher, or chemistry or a technological subject at 5 units with a grade of 70 or higher, with a physics placement test, or biology at 5 units with a grade of 80 or higher, with a physics placement test, or the subject “Production Management” / “Industrial Management” / “Operations Management” / “Production Organization and Management” at 5 units with a grade of 80 or higher, with a physics placement test, or a grade of 70 or higher in Classical Physics 1 at Tel Aviv University or in Mechanics at The Open University of Israel, or a score of 140 or higher in the quantitative reasoning section of the psychometric exam, and also: a grade of 90 or higher in mathematics at 5 units, with a physics placement test, or a suitability score at least 20 points higher than the admission threshold, and also a grade of 90 or higher in mathematics at 5 units, with a physics placement test
  • Overall psychometric score of 620 or higher or a degree from a CHE-recognized academic institution with an average of 85 or higher, and also a grade of 70 or higher in bagrut physics at 5 units; or in the physics placement test or in Classical Physics 1 at Tel Aviv University or in Mechanics or Electricity and Magnetism at The Open University of Israel; or a grade of 80 or higher in each and an average of 85 or higher in the following courses: Calculus 1A or Calculus 1B or Linear Algebra at Tel Aviv University, or Infi 1 or Infi 2 or Linear Algebra 1 at The Open University of Israel; and also Classical Physics 1 at Tel Aviv University, or Mechanics or Electricity and Magnetism at The Open University of Israel
  • The applicant has not previously studied at a recognized academic institution recognized by the CHE, or the previous academic studies ended with a cumulative average of 75 or higher and were not discontinued for academic reasons (such as failing courses)
  • Applicants admitted to the Faculty of Engineering must have prior knowledge of physics. Anyone who did not pass a physics bagrut exam at 5 units or more with a grade of at least 70 is defined as “lacking physics.” Applicants “lacking physics” will be admitted conditionally, as detailed under the “Lacking Physics” tab.
  • Applicants who graduated from high schools abroad and whose diploma is not equivalent to an Israeli bagrut certificate: These applicants must complete a year at a recognized mechina in the science track (5 units in mathematics and 5 units in physics). See applicants who graduated from the mechina for new immigrants below.
  • The university’s general admission requirementsAn Israeli bagrut certificate or a high-school completion certificate from abroad

What you study

To engineer and manage the world, of course. Graduates of the Industrial Engineering program occupy the top ranks at startup companies (such as Wolt) and venture capital funds (for example, Pitango Fund).

Industrial engineering and management is a broad, dynamic degree that combines several fields of knowledge and has grown alongside technological developments in industry. These developments have created a need to solve system-wide problems from an engineering perspective, and for engineers who can take responsibility for production, increasing output, streamlining systems, improving organizational processes, developing research methods, managing teams and departments, and more. Industrial engineering and management studies combine theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as engineering and technological knowledge alongside theories in the social sciences and management. Courses in the degree include: - core courses in mathematics and physics; courses in engineering theory (electrical and electronics engineering, materials, and manufacturing processes); courses in economics and finance (such as engineering economics, marketing, finance, and accounting); courses in organizational and management theory; and courses in programming and information systems.
