- 8 units in science and mathematics subjects are required, subject to the minimum requirements.
Through a preparatory program
Dedicated mechina average
- Designated mechina average: 85 and a grade of at least 80 in each of the subjects
Through a preparatory program
Admission to the Foundations Track will be for mechina graduates
- Admission to the Foundations Track will be for mechina graduates with an average of 78 and a minimum grade of 75 in each subject.
- Admission to the Foundations track – conditional admission for one year; complete the entire first year with a cumulative average of at least 70, with no failing grades.
- Eligibility for a bagrut certificate / practical engineer diploma is required.
Regular track
Engineering sekhem
- Engineering sekhem: 600
- Conditional on a psychometric score of at least 550 and a quantitative subscore of at least 120.
- Bagrut in at least 4/5 units in mathematics and physics.
- An engineering sekhem cannot be calculated with 3 units in mathematics.
Special track
Admission categories for the “Foundations” track:
- 1. Combined score – 580 (a psychometric score of at least 550 is required to calculate the combined score).
- Admission to the Foundations track is for 1 year only. Transfer to the second year is conditional on completing the first year with an average of at least 70 and no failing grades.
Special track
Admission to the Foundations Track—conditional admission for one year
- Admission based on bagrut only—97+; 8 science units + English level placement
- Admission to the Foundations track – conditional admission for one year; complete the entire first year with a cumulative average of at least 70, with no failing grades.
Special track
Review of exceptional cases
- The departmental admission requirements take all science and mathematics subjects in the bagrut into account. Therefore, applicants with strong aptitude for science and mathematics in the bagrut and psychometric exam who do not meet the admission requirements will be referred for a review of exceptional cases.
For adults and those who have studied before3
Certified practical engineer
- Certified practical engineer: average of 85 or higher in external grades.
- Admission is based on the average of external grades, excluding the laboratory and project.
- Mathematics and Physics supplementary mechina, in accordance with the bagrut threshold requirements.
Practical engineer who is not certified
- Practical engineer who is not certified: A practical engineer in their final year of study at a school for practical engineers will be admitted conditionally based on: 1. Having at least one MAHAT grade of 90 or higher.
- Supplementary mechina courses in Mathematics + Physics.
- Submit an average of 85 in external grades by the start of the academic year.
- Submit the diploma by the end of the first year.
Previous studies
- Earn at least 40 credit points with a cumulative average of at least 85 (no failing grades).
- Applicants with a cumulative average of 80–85 will be referred to the department admissions committee for review, together with a transcript.
- A bachelor's degree or previous studies in a field other than science or engineering will not be used as an admissions criterion for the department.
These are minimum requirements: meeting them does not by itself guarantee admission.
For every track
- Mathematics4 units with a grade of at least 80; 5 units with a grade of at least 70. A grade below the required level requires a mathematics completion mechina before starting studies.
- English4 units with a grade of at least 70. 5 units with a grade of at least 65. A grade below the required grade requires a supplementary English mechina.
- A Yael exam score of at least 115 is required for applicants who completed high school where the language of instruction was not Hebrew, and/or who took the psychometric exam in a language other than Hebrew.
- PhysicsPhysics: 5 units with a grade of at least 70. Lack of a physics bagrut, or 3 units in physics, requires a physics completion mechina. A grade below 70 in 5-unit physics bagrut requires a physics completion mechina.
