What you would be doing

Flying isn't a natural environment for the human body, so fighters need to stay medically fit for what the mission demands. You give them instruction, drills, and simulator training that help them cope with things like low-oxygen exposure, high acceleration, and spatial disorientation. You serve at the Aviation Medicine Unit and can go on to train new instructors or move into the officer track across the Air Force.

What it takes to get in

Profile 64 and above, Dapar 50 and above. Yom Ha-MEA: Instruction 3+, Information processing 3+, Command 3+, Teamwork 3+, Maturity 3+, Sustained attention 3+. Security clearance and medical checks required, along with a commitment to serve under the 'equal service' rule (Din Isha Kedin Gever).

Training

Tironut 02, then unit training at Yerap"a 112 covering aviation medicine and simulator work.

The Aviation Medicine Unit in Ramat Gan (Yerap"a 112), open-base format.

What it is worth afterwards

You come away with real grounding in physiology and medicine, instructional experience, public speaking, and management skills.
