What you would be doing
Talpiot is the Ministry of Defense's elite program, run jointly with the Air Force, training the next generation of research, technology and leadership figures for the defense establishment. Over three years you combine military and leadership training with a degree in physics, mathematics or computer science at the Hebrew University, alongside exposure to the defense establishment's research and development work. Graduates go on to lead technological and research projects, join special units, fly as pilots, or take other operational roles.
What it takes to get in
For graduates of a science or technology track in high school, with 5 units each of mathematics and English, high military scores, and a medical profile of 72 and above (profile 64 holders can email to check eligibility).
Training
Three years of training: tironut 04 at the Paratroopers' basic training base, a degree at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, an officer course at Bahad 1, and additional courses.
Where you serve
On a closed base at the School of Command and Leadership, at the Hebrew University, and on the Givat Ram campus in Jerusalem.
What it is worth afterwards
You come out with an academic degree and a strong science-and-technology background — highly valued in civilian careers too.
