What you would be doing
If you're a news addict, curious about what happens behind the scenes in media, and good at getting a point across sharply and clearly, this role could be for you. Behind the IDF Spokesperson stands a whole system of mashaks who handle messaging around routine and emergency events — keeping in constant contact with media and journalists across every platform, escorting delegations, briefing soldiers and commanders, and standing behind everything the IDF Spokesperson announces publicly. Field mashaks gather content for media stories by talking to soldiers and commanders and finding the most compelling angles; headquarters mashaks make sure those field stories reach the press in the best possible shape. The role isn't open to men slated for combat service.
What it takes to get in
Profile 25 and above, Dapar 60 and above; not open to men slated for combat roles. Yom Ha-MEA scores: management and organization 2 and above, information processing 3 and above, conformity/discipline 3 and above, maturity 3 and above.
Training
Basic training 02 and a spokesperson-trade course at Gidonim camp.
Where you serve
IDF Spokesperson's representative offices at bases around the country, and the unit's own base at Aviv camp.
