Admission requirements

You can be admitted through one of these tracks:

By bagrut, no psychometric exam

Quality bagrut (without a psychometric exam)(our wording)

  • Bagrut certificate average of 92 or higher, 4–5 units of English and an additional advanced-level subject

Regular track

Psychometric exam and bagrut certificate

  • Applicants who do not meet the above admission requirements for a quality bagrut certificate may be admitted based on the psychometric exam score and the weighted bagrut certificate score (including bonus points), with each component weighted at 50%, for a suitability score of at least 540.

Through a preparatory program

Graduates of a pre-academic mechina(our wording)

  • Graduates of pre-academic mechina programs at any institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education, who received a mechina completion certificate: their mechina grades will replace their bagrut grades, and they will be considered to meet the admission requirements as holders of a full bagrut certificate, without a psychometric exam, subject to the following conditions: a weighted average of mechina grades of at least 92 (as detailed in Section 1).

Special track

Combined score of 525–539 + Mesila test (up to 10%)(our wording)

  • The college may admit up to 10% of applicants with a combined score of 525–539, provided they achieve a score of at least 5.5 on the Mesila test, subject to the admissions committee’s decision
For adults and those who have studied before1

Mechina for applicants aged 30 and over

  • Studies in a recognized mechina for ages 30+ allow admission based on mechina grades, with a weighted average of 92 or higher.

These are minimum requirements: meeting them does not by itself guarantee admission.

The requirements are in the institution's words. Names and labels marked "our wording" are our own, written from the same page.

What you study

Hebrew language teaching certificate studies provide comprehensive academic knowledge of the language throughout its periods and styles, and introduce students to issues, research methods, and ways of understanding the structure of the language. The curriculum combines a comparative approach with the study of related Semitic languages to examine the development of Hebrew over the years and introduce students to new linguistic research methods. During their studies, students gain in-depth knowledge of linguistics, as well as tools for understanding and analyzing the rules that govern Hebrew grammar.
