Special track
Foundations Track
- Admission based on bagrut only—97+; 8 science units + English level placement
- Minimum requirements for the Foundations track: Mathematics at 5 units with a grade of 70 / 4 units with a grade of at least 80. Physics – 5 units with a grade of at least 70.
- Admission to the Foundations track is for 1 year only. Transfer to the second year is conditional on completing the first year with an average of at least 70 and no failing grades.
Special track
Review of exceptional cases
- The departmental admission requirements take all science and mathematics subjects in the bagrut into account. Therefore, applicants with strong aptitude for science and mathematics in the bagrut and psychometric exam who do not meet the admission requirements will be referred for a review of exceptional cases.
For adults and those who have studied before4
Non-certified practical engineer: a practical engineer in their final year of studies at the School of Practical Engineering will be admitted “conditionally” on the basis of:
- 1. Applicants with at least 1 MAHAT grade of 90 or higher.
- 2. Supplementary mechina programs in mathematics + physics.
- 3. An external grades average of 85 must be presented before the start of the academic year.
- 4. A diploma must be presented by the end of the first year.
Previous studies
- At least 40 credit points with a cumulative average of at least 80 (with no failing grades).
Bachelor’s degree in a science field
- Applicants with an average of 75 or higher in a bachelor’s degree in a science field, and a supplementary mechina requirement as applicable (if needed)
Certified practical engineer
- Certified practical engineer: average of 85 or higher in external grades.
- Admission is based on the average of external grades, excluding the laboratory and project.
- Mathematics and Physics supplementary mechina, in accordance with the bagrut threshold requirements.
These are minimum requirements: meeting them does not by itself guarantee admission.
For every track
- Mathematics4 units with a grade of at least 88; 5 units with a grade of at least 75. Applicants with 3 units in mathematics will be required to take a designated mechina. A grade below the required grade requires a supplementary mathematics mechina before studies begin.
- English4 units with a grade of at least 70. 5 units with a grade of at least 65. A grade below the required grade requires a supplementary English mechina.
- A Yael exam score of at least 115, for applicants who completed high school where the language of instruction was not Hebrew, and/or who took the psychometric exam in a language other than Hebrew.
- Physics: 5 units with a grade of at least 78. Lack of a bagrut in physics requires a supplementary physics mechina. A bagrut in physics at 5 units with a grade below 75 requires a supplementary physics mechina.

What you study
Electrical Engineering deals with electricity as a means of transmitting energy, as opposed to Electronics Engineering, which deals with using electricity to transmit information. In most cases, students must choose one or more specializations during their studies, such as electro-optics, communications, nanoelectronics, bioengineering, signal processing, computers, control, electronic devices, energy and power systems, bioelectronics, and more. Courses in the degree include theoretical courses in core subjects such as mathematics, physics, programming, and electronics, as well as theoretical and practical laboratory courses, according to the areas of specialization. The studies also include a final project in the last year.
