Regular track

Admission based on the psychometric exam**

  • Psychometric score of 600 or higher
  • Quantitative reasoning score on the psychometric exam: 115 or higher
  • Mathematics: 4 units with a grade of 80 or higher, or 5 units with a grade of 70 or higher, or a mathematics mechina with a grade of 70 or higher.
  • Physics: 5 units with a grade of 60 or higher, or a physics mechina with a grade of 70 or higher.
  • English level placement at “Beginners”/“Basic” before the start of studies (Amirnet exam/English score on the psychometric exam)

Regular track

Admission based on sekhem score

  • Sekhem score above 180

Another track

Admission based on the “On the Way to Afeka” preparatory program

  • Physics studies totaling 250 hours (passing grade: 70)
  • Mathematics studies totaling 300 hours (passing grade: 75)
  • English studies totaling 50 hours (passing grade: 70)
For adults and those who have studied before2

Admission based on previous studies

  • Bachelor’s degree with an average of 80 or higher
  • Mathematics: 4 units with a grade of 80 or higher, or 5 units with a grade of 70 or higher, or a mathematics mechina with a grade of 70 or higher.
  • Physics: 5 units with a grade of 60 or higher or a physics mechina with a grade of 70 or higher
  • English exemption level before the start of studies (Amirnet exam/English score on the psychometric exam), or submission of a transcript showing an English exemption—with approval from the English coordinator.
  • Eligibility for a bagrut certificate is not required.

Admission based on a practical engineer diploma

  • MAHAT/Ministry of Education practical engineer diploma with a grade average of at least 85 (based on the external exams and final project, excluding lab grades)
  • Mathematics: 4 units with a grade of 80 or higher, or 5 units with a grade of 70 or higher, or a mathematics mechina with a grade of 70 or higher.
  • Physics: 5 units with a grade of 60 or higher or a physics mechina with a grade of 70 or higher.
  • English exemption level before the start of studies (Amirnet exam/English score on the psychometric exam), or submission of a transcript showing an English exemption—with approval from the English coordinator.
  • Applicants with a practical engineer diploma are not required to have a bagrut certificate.

These are minimum requirements: meeting them does not by itself guarantee admission.

For every track

  • A full bagrut certificate is a mandatory prerequisite for admission through the various admission tracks
  • ** Psychometric exam results are valid for 10 years from the date of the exam.
  • Admission based on a pre-academic mechina specifically designed for this purposeA certificate from a pre-academic mechina specifically for engineering and exact sciences, completed in a 1-year track (9 months of study) at another academic institution, will be recognized as an alternative to the bagrut certificate, according to the admission framework for each study program as detailed on the website. Approval from the Vice President for Academic Administration is required. Admission to studies is conditional on the track meeting the requirements of the Council for Higher Education's (CHE) mutual recognition reform, while ensuring the required number of hours and subjects are covered in the 4 core subjects.

What you study

Electrical Engineering deals with electricity as a means of transmitting energy, as opposed to Electronics Engineering, which deals with using electricity to transmit information. In most cases, students must choose one or more specializations during their studies, such as electro-optics, communications, nanoelectronics, bioengineering, signal processing, computers, control, electronic devices, energy and power systems, bioelectronics, and more. Courses in the degree include theoretical courses in core subjects such as mathematics, physics, programming, and electronics, as well as theoretical and practical laboratory courses, according to the areas of specialization. The studies also include a final project in the last year.
