Admission requirements

Intake for the 2026/27 academic year

You can be admitted through one of these tracks:

By bagrut, no psychometric exam

Weighted bagrut average

  • Weighted bagrut average: bagrut average (weighted with bonus points) of at least 100, or a bagrut average of 98 that includes a mathematics bagrut grade of at least 80 at the 5-unit level or at least 95 at the 4-unit level.

Regular track

Psychometric score

  • Psychometric score: general multi-domain/quantitative-oriented psychometric score of at least 580, or a score of 570 or higher with a quantitative score component of at least 120.

Regular track

Admission score of 106 or higher

  • Admission score of 106 or higher: calculated based on the bagrut average (weighted with bonus points) and the psychometric score.
  • For the calculation, a general multi-domain/quantitative-oriented psychometric score of at least 550 is required.

Special track

Request for exceptional admission

  • Ruppin Academic Center may admit up to 10% of the students admitted to a department who do not meet the official admission requirements published above, in cases involving special circumstances specified in the Registration and Admission Regulations, subject to approval by the committee for review of exceptional cases. In addition, Ruppin Academic Center may admit up to an additional 8% of the students in each department who do not meet the official admission requirements published above, for the following reasons: reservists or career soldiers in frontline units; those wounded in the Swords of Iron War; discharged regular-service combat soldiers—subject to presenting a combat soldier certificate.
For adults and those who have studied before3

Practical engineer diploma and final transcript

  • Practical engineer diploma and final transcript: an average of at least 80 in courses for the external government exams (including the project grade), or a simple average (without bonus points) of at least 85 in practical engineering courses.

Bachelor's degree from a recognized academic institution

  • Bachelor's degree from a recognized academic institution - confirmation of eligibility for a bachelor's degree and a final degree average of at least 80.

Admission based on credit points from The Open University of Israel

  • Admission based on credit points from The Open University of Israel

These are minimum requirements: meeting them does not by itself guarantee admission.

For every track

  • Applicants whose high school’s language of instruction was not Hebrew and/or who took the psychometric exam in a language other than Hebrew must present a score of at least 110 on a Hebrew knowledge test (Yael exam / Yaelnet exam) administered by the National Institute for Testing and Evaluation.
  • PhysicsA grade of at least 70 in the bagrut certificate at 5 units is required.
  • Applicants who do not meet the physics admission requirements must choose 1 of the following options: Physics Fundamentals courses: They must take and pass Physics Fundamentals 1 – Mechanics and Physics Fundamentals 2 – Electricity, which are taught in the first year and in the summer semester between the first and second years. Summer course in Physics Fundamentals – Mechanics: Applicants who meet the math admission requirements may take the summer course in Physics Fundamentals 1 – Mechanics, which will take place before the start of the first academic year. Those who pass this course will complete the physics courses during the first year and will not be required to attend a summer semester between the first and second years. This course may be taken alongside the math refresher course. Physics exemption exam: Passing the exemption exam.
  • MathematicsAdmission is conditional on a grade of at least 70 in the bagrut certificate at 5 units, or a grade of at least 85 in the bagrut certificate at 4 units. Applicants who do not meet the math admission requirements must take a prerequisite course in mathematics and receive a grade of at least 70 in it, or pass an exemption exam with a grade of at least 70. Applicants who do not pass the prerequisite course or exemption exam will not be able to begin their academic studies.
  • Bagrut certificate - All applicants to a bachelor's degree must be eligible for an Israeli bagrut certificate (full bagrut), or hold an equivalent certificate accepted under the regulations of the Council for Higher Education: a 1-year pre-academic mechina (supervised by the Council for Higher Education), or Ministry of Education approval of secondary education completed abroad, or a practical engineer diploma certificate.
  • Applicants admitted to the program who do not have a psychometric score are required to take the Amirnet exam administered by the National Institute for Testing and Evaluation to determine their English level placement.

What you study

Electrical Engineering deals with electricity as a means of transmitting energy, as opposed to Electronics Engineering, which deals with using electricity to transmit information. In most cases, students must choose one or more specializations during their studies, such as electro-optics, communications, nanoelectronics, bioengineering, signal processing, computers, control, electronic devices, energy and power systems, bioelectronics, and more. Courses in the degree include theoretical courses in core subjects such as mathematics, physics, programming, and electronics, as well as theoretical and practical laboratory courses, according to the areas of specialization. The studies also include a final project in the last year.
